In my work as a dj, i've had the opportunity to work pretty closely with various vjs over the 5/6 years, and its a collaboration i feel holds great potential. This is a brief post for now, but here's a few links and things i've found which might be useful. Serato are rumoured to be bringing out a way of playing video from inside their dvs and there are a number of specific options available software wise which i'll write a specific post on soon. The thing im trying out at the moment is syncing midi clocks. The two main performance tools i use are Traktor and Ableton, so if you use either here's a recent guide that i found useful in syncing the two. Note that that if you use pc then you need to use something like midi yoke and then select that in the Traktor prefs. Should also note that the tempo does fluctuate in ableton. Ive got it pretty solid, but there is the drift at least visually so it takes a little playing around with to get results you want. Whilst looking for info on syncing traktor with resoulume (the software blend use) we found a pretty useful guide for syncing ableton with resolume.
